Bimbili Aleksandrouli 2019 is a Georgian dry red wine from Racha, made from Aleksandrouli grapes grown in thirty-year-old vineyards in the villages of Sadmeli and Bostana. The Gurgenidze family presents this wine under the Bimbili name, and Itsis Marani bottles it in Ambrolauri. Classical winemaking preserves the grape’s identity and connects this single-vintage red with the places where its fruit was grown.

Red-berry aromas give the wine an expressive opening. High acidity shapes its palate, while a balanced profile and a long aromatic finish carry the fruit through the tasting. The Sommeliers Choice Awards judges also noted red and blue fruit alongside a savoury palate. This combination makes it an interesting choice for drinkers who enjoy freshness and fruit with their dry red wine.

The 2019 vintage won Silver and 86 points at the Sommeliers Choice Awards 2021. Its bottle also carries a Decanter World Wine Awards 2020 Bronze sticker. These awards belong to this vintage and complement the wine’s regional identity, giving it an appealing place at dinner or as a gift for someone exploring Georgian varieties.

For serving, allow thirty to forty minutes of decanting before pouring. We recommend serving slightly cool, around 16–18°C, and tasting as it opens in the glass. Try it with roasted poultry, grilled meat, mushroom dishes or a cheese board; these are suggested pairings for its fresh, savoury profile. The 750 ml bottle contains 14% alcohol and sulfites.
