🏺 Ethno Khikhvi Mtsvane 2022 is a dry amber qvevri wine from Manavi, Kakheti, Georgia. Its blend brings together 70% Khikhvi and 30% Mtsvane, two Georgian grape varieties grown in the producer’s own vineyards. The 750 ml bottle contains 13% alcohol and offers a distinctive expression of traditional Georgian winemaking.

Ethno’s organically farmed vineyards stand on the slopes of the ancient Manavi fortress. The vines are more than 45 years old, and harvest yields range from 2,500 to 3,000 kilograms per hectare. Grapes are hand-picked and pressed before fermentation and ageing in qvevri. Spontaneous fermentation with wild yeasts is central to the producer’s approach, preserving the link between the vineyard, its fruit and the wine’s individual character.

This amber wine has a medium body, a textured palate, balanced acidity and a long finish. Its aromatic profile combines roasted nuts, apple, caramel and dried citrus peel; ripe orchard-fruit flavours are accompanied by a gentle phenolic grip. The result brings together dryness, texture and balance in a wine that rewards unhurried tasting.

The producer recommends decanting before serving. As a serving suggestion, try it lightly chilled at 12–14°C with roasted poultry, mushroom dishes, grilled vegetables or aged cheese. Estate bottled by LTD Wine Art, trading as Ethno, on 13 March 2024, it contains sulfites.

🏆 The 2022 vintage earned IWSC 2026 Gold, 95/100, and the IWSC 2026 Wine Trophy. These awards recognise this specific Khikhvi–Mtsvane blend and vintage.
