Meikle Toir 5 Y The Original Single Malt Whisky is a bold, modern peated single malt created at the award-winning GlenAllachie Distillery, located in the foothills of Speyside. The name Meikle Tòir (meaning “Big Pursuit” in Scots Gaelic) reflects the distillery’s mission to craft deeply flavorful, richly textured whiskies with distinctive character.
Unlike typical Speyside malts, Meikle Tòir uses heavily peated barley (approx. 35+ PPM), giving the whisky a smoky backbone while maintaining GlenAllachie’s signature sweet, fruity depth.
Aged for 5 years and bottled at a strong 50% ABV (Batch Strength), “The Original” is expressive, vibrant, and full of energy — a perfect introduction to modern peated Scotch.
In the glass, it shows a bright gold color.
On the nose, it opens with bonfire smoke, toasted malt, honey, vanilla cream, citrus zest, and grilled pineapple, all wrapped in soft oak.
The palate is powerful yet balanced: peat smoke, caramelized fruit, heather honey, warm spice, butterscotch, charred oak, and subtle dark chocolate.
The finish is long, smoky, slightly sweet, and warmly spiced — a beautiful mix of smoke and Speyside richness.
This whisky shines neat, but water opens even more fruit and creamy sweetness.
