🍷 Tchotiashvili Ilias First Vintage SB 2017 is a dry amber wine from Kakheti, Georgia, made from Kisi and Mtsvane. This qvevri wine belongs to the winery’s Specially Bottled range. The 2017 harvest was bottled on 5 May 2019, and the wine is presented unfiltered, at 13% alcohol in a 750 ml bottle.

The family winery is based in Saniore, in the Alazani Valley. Its history connects several generations of grape growing and qvevri winemaking. Brothers Kakha and Ucha Tchotiashvili developed the family business, with Kakha responsible for winemaking and technology. Their work includes cultivating rare local grape varieties and exploring their possibilities in the cellar.

Qvevri are clay vessels used in traditional Georgian winemaking. In the winery’s account of the Kakhetian method, grape juice develops with the solid parts of the grapes before the wine is separated for further maturation. This approach places the relationship between grape varieties and vessel at the centre of the wine’s production.
