Fattoria Monticino Rosso Codronchio White Wine 750ml 14.5% (2022, Romagna, Italy)
CODRONCHIO ROMAGNA DOCG DRY ALBANA
Codronchio from Fattoria Monticino Rosso is the pride of our winery, one of the most representative wines and we dedicated it to the Codronchi counts, noble lords of Imola who owned and cultivated the lands where Fattoria Monticino Rosso stands today. With this wine we want to keep the tradition of our land alive and at the same time offer a wine that reflects the characteristics of the hills of Imola.
Codronchio is a dry Albana from late harvest. It comes from a careful selection of the grapes of our company crus, and is harvested by hand, one bunch at a time, with loving attention and only when the first traces of noble rot (botrytis cinerea) begin to appear. It is a painstaking job, with multiple passes in the vinyard, because we harvest the bunches as they are attacked by botrytis.
Tasting
Pure gold with greenish reflections. It opens on the nose with a riot of mineral aromas, then the flowers slowly emerge and the yellow fruit inserts itself with elegance. Accompanying this richness we have aromatic herbs, iodine aromas, testifying to the minerality of the soils from which it was born.
In the mouth it is juicy, dry, full-bodied, with a persistence that caresses the palate with hints of flavor. The freshness is well-measured and manifests itself through waves of citrus and flows throughout the wine, making it vibrant, complex, of incredible finesse. The finish envelops the entire mouth with a beautiful roundness; the notes of fruit and flowers resurface, leaving a pleasant mineral trail. The aging potential is remarkable: at least 15 years of aging.
